Testing Windows Live Writer

Always wondered if there was an easier WYSIWYG editor.

This one seems quite easy to use. Positioning of photo’s looks easy too.

It also seems that I can embed a map.

Sprockets Inside

Sprockets Inside says....

Risk puffing yourself up as long as your claims are in line with your goals and values, but never question whether they are true, because that doesn't matter.

The collapse of complex business models

Absolutely fascinating and something we should think about at the place where I work. Are we too set in our old business model to succeed in new areas that require a completely different mind set?

RNC Mailer Typo Directs Recipients To Phone-Sex Line

RNC Mailer Typo Directs Recipients To Phone-Sex Line:

"Oh, Republican National Committee, this is just not your week, is it? Hard on the heels of Monday's nonsense with the bondage-themed Young Eagles sexytime nightclub jaunt, news is breaking of a mailer the RNC sent out that includes a phone number directing callers to a phone sex line.

Politico's Jonathan Martin has the story:

I just love this story.

Philip Pullman: nobody has the right not to be offended « Why Evolution Is True

Philip Pullman: nobody has the right not to be offended « Why Evolution Is True

"It was a shocking thing to say, and I knew it was a shocking thing to say. But no one has the right to live without being shocked. No one has the right to spend their life without being offended.

Nobody has to read this book. Nobody has to pick it up. Nobody has to open it. And if they open it and read it, they don’t have to like it. And if you read it and dislike it, you don’t have to remain silent about it. You can write to me — You can complain about it. You can write to the publisher. You can write to the paper. You can write your own book.

You can do all those things, but there your rights stop.

No one has the right to stop me from writing this book. No one has the right to stop it being published, or sold, or bought, or read.

And that’s all I have to say on that subject.”

Here Here!

Why Evolution is True is a great blog by the way as well!

Andrew Winston: What "Small Government" Looks Like in Real Life ...:

"But my favorite part of this story is the woman who thinks there's something sinister going on.

Betty L. Roberts, who lives in Sun City, west of Phoenix, said the topic was a hot one among her friends. 'I honestly think they are setting us up because they want to do a tax increase,' Ms. Roberts said. 'I think by shutting down things people want, they will give us one.'

So that sneaky government is showing that it's out of money by, you know, not doing things that people need or want. So clever."

Home schooling: a sneaky way of exposing children to religious claptrap

I worry about the USA sometimes. I fear for the future when ignorance of the truth is held in such high regard and those who learn and know are insulted as "elitist."

THE stupidification of American children continues at depressing speed …

According to this report, Christian-based teaching materials dominate an escalating home-school education market encompassing more than 1.5 million students.

America Over a Barrel

Lobbyists control congress. Oil companies do very very well when the oil price is high. If congress acts to reduce our dependence on oil then they re act via the lobby and will kill any progress to energy independence.

We need to fix congress so that it works in the interest of all Americans not just those who can afford to lobby.

Newsflash: Educated Liberals, Atheists More likely to Label Themselves Smart

I agree that other things that are conscious may exist in this universe. That, however, does not make them God or a god.

As an atheist I do not believe in any god as described and worshiped by the religions of man. I do not believe that another "consciousness" if it exists and revealed itself to us would be anything like the gods that man made religions describe. It would be a space alien.

Though such aliens have never been proven by science to exist I believe that they might. This is because life evolved here on Earth and though it seems like this was a very unlikely event the universe is very big and there are no doubt billions of planets out there. So the chance of it happening more than once seem good.

Study: Laws banning hand-held phones do not reduce crashes

So they would drive like that when they were not on the phone!!??

Study: Laws banning hand-held phones do not reduce crashes: "

Our third reason is more observational than data of science based, though it does square with the HLDI's findings: people seem to drive just as lousy phone or no phone. Wake up and drive people.
